Facedown rocked Boondocks Tavern last night

Facedown rocked Boondocks Tavern last night

Facedown made yet another appearance at Boondocks Tavern & Country Grill in Weare, New Hampshire last night. It was clear why this unique cover band has been picking up a bunch of rooms in a hurry in southern New Hampshire. Lead vocalist Nikki Guidoboni has a very likable and very watchable stage presence. She also has a good handle on how to give each song what it needs to go over well with people who’ve been hearing them for years. The four musicians behind her were also top notch at putting across the music people having been dancing to and singing along to in their car radios.

Peter Ward And The Electric Blues found a good home at Smoken’ Joe’s

Peter Ward And The Electric Blues played Smoken’ Joe’s BBQ & Blues for the first time last night, and they proved they’re the right kind of band for the venue. Bringing in their own crowd and keeping the regulars tuned in, Ward and his band mates played good, old fashioned blues, classics, and some overlooked nuggets. The Brighton blues venue was the perfect home for this outfit.

Deja Voodoo rock Boondocks Tavern, help say goodbye to a special friend

Deja Voodoo came to Weare, New Hampshire last night and played their special blend of 90s rock, power trio style. There is nothing like three tight players pumping out an endless salvo of driving music. This Manchester-based trio kept their sound compact, accessible, and chunky. Even when they slowed things down a bit, you could still feel their electrical charge. Their performance marked the final evening of farewell celebrations for owner MaryEllen Robinson-Montplaisir who is relocating to Maine to complete her dream of living in her childhood hometown.

URO outdid themselves with Quadrophenia in concert

The Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra outdid themselves last night. That local Boston area company of singers and musicians performed The Who’s technically challenging landmark rock opera Quadrophenia in its entirety. Not only did the URO make it sound right, they made it feel right. URO made one feel the way he felt when he first listened to this music as a young man identifying with its tortured protagonist Jimmy.

Juke Joint 5 rocked British Beer Company in Manchester NH earlier today

It was an afternoon of real blues music in the Queen City today. The Juke Joint 5 came to British Beer Company’s Manchester, New Hampshire’s location earlier today to play the Bloody Blues Brunch. JJ5 is a band that plays almost all blues throughout their three sets. That sets them apart and makes them a gem in a world of blues bands that mix blues in with numerous other genres just to get gigs. There is real blues color, tone, and sultriness here, folks.
