Dave Bailin & The Bailouts play to receptive Pig’s Eye crowd in Salem, MA

Dave Bailin & The Bailouts appeared at the well liked restaurant and pub called In A Pig’s Eye in Salem, Massachusetts last Sunday night. A strong turnout was par for the course at that room, and the band played to it well. Dave Bailin & The Bailouts draw a lot of their influences from classic rock, especially late 1960s and early 1970s bands that incorporated country music styles. This gives the Bailouts plenty to work with, keeping their guitar lines pretty and their rhythm section shuffling.

Blues guitarist-vocalist Chris Fitz and blues-rock drummer-singer Steven Peabody have had an exceptionally successful run with their Sunday Funday jam at Salem, Massachusetts’ Brodie’s Seaport Bar & Grill. While Fitz couldn’t make it to yesterday’s jam, featured guest musician Robert Leger filled in on guitar and sex appeal. Proving he still has it, Leger unleashed some mighty fine guitar phrases throughout the jam, serving each song well by injecting fire and brimstone when needed.

Slutcracker is a must see for openminded people in New England

The Slutcracker has been a holiday staple in greater-Boston for several years now. Last Saturday night’s performance at the historic Somerville Theater in Davis Square shows why. Artistic director Vanessa White’s combination of traditional ballet and frisky burlesque respects both arts forms. Her dancers can actually dance the ballet steps, movements, and choreographed circular formations and line movements. Her dancers also know how to play up the over top show business sensuality of burlesque.

Chick Singer Night shined at the Burren’s Back Room yesterday evening

Headlined by Robin Lane, Last Sunday’s presentation of Chick Singer Night at The Burren went off with hardly a glitch. Joining forces with the Burren’s Sunday night music program was a smashing success. Turnout and enthusiasm was high at the Burren’s backroom last night. Beautiful voices and lovely melodies rang out in a roomful of receptive ears. If that wasn’t enough, the show was a benefit for Lane’s organization Songbirdsings.org, a group that supports victims of trauma by teaching them songwriting.

Cider Press band delights Halloween costume party goers at Village Trestle

Cider Press band entertained the costumed crowd at the Village Trestle’s annual Halloween party last Saturday night. Aside from a few technical issues that would crop up now and then, the band hit the right vibe for a festive seasonal event. The five piece featured two guitarists and a keyboardist, and that made for a full sounding band. Three of the band members sing, and that made for some good harmonies. Toss in Cider Press’s penchant for variety, playing songs that most cover bands don’t, and it was an evening of good music.
