Juliet Simmons Dinallo to perform at Portsmouth NH’s Book & Bar

JulietAndTheLonesomeRomeosCDReviewNoRegretsNew Hampshire rock and roots music fans are in for a real treat. Juliet Simmons Dinallo will perform live at Portsmouth Book & Bar on Saturday, July 9th at 9:00 p.m. Marking her first appearance at this popular Portsmouth, New Hampshire venue, Simmons Dinallo will be performing new songs from her upcoming album Dream Girl.

Dream Girl is an amalgam of Nashville and Memphis, drawing influences from Dusty in Memphis, I Am Shelby Lynn, Stax/Volt, classic Nashville sides, and Elvis in Memphis.

For her Dream Girl CD, Simmons enlisted two other tremendous vocalists from Boston, Amber Casares & Anita Suhanin, to sing with her. The blend is reminiscent of the Staple Singers at times (“Until I Go”) or the Trio album (“Moonshine and Sweet Tea”) with Dolly, Emmylou, and Linda. Tim Carter (who is a direct link to The Carter Family) recorded the mando, fiddle, and banjo at his studio in Goodlettsville TN.

Critics have compared Simmons Dinallo to Lucinda Williams and Boston music critic Steve Morse has written: “These songs are fantastic. Juliet sounds so comfortable, so soulful. A definite leap forward.”

Simmon Dinallo is always accompanied by her husband and guitarist Michael Dinallo. He and her band will accompany her at her Book & Bar appearance. Book & Bar is book store, coffee and sandwich shop, and bar all in one combo.
