Do you want to see a really cool can playing some really cool blues guitar? Would you like to see the really, really cool cat playing blues guitar in a local candy store? Well, you’re in luck. Gil Correia Blues Band will appear at Nelson’s Candies in Wilton, New Hampshire this Saturday night, March 28. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. at the B.YO.B. venue.
Gil Correia is a south shore blues guitarist and vocalist who became a blues guitarist in his early 40s. Now, over ten years later, he has blossomed into an artist whose debut CD garners rave reviews and a blues community leader who co-founded The Oncet Blues Festival in Oncet, Massachusetts.
Correia is known throughout New England’s blues circuit for his incendiary guitar work. Fronting a three piece gives this guitarist-vocalist a sound that is expansive while the interplay between musicians remains tight.
Here is a brief excerpt from my review of Gil Correia’s debut CD:
“Gil Correia Band’s debut CD Tattoos And Blues is loaded with the particular brand of punchy, driving blues-rock Correia and his boys are known for. It doesn’t hurt that Correia’s hard scrabble life gives him a bit of tough guy confidence while filling these numbers with soulful verisimilitude. His rough Massachusetts accent fits right in with that real down and dirty tone he and his boys shoot for on this CD. His vocals make you feel you’re listening to a man who has been there and done that and has survived it with grace.”

As you can tell by my article, Gil Correia and his band is an act that any New England blues fans needs to check out, especially New Hampshire blues fans. This Wilton, New Hampshire appearance is a good time and place to see this master blues guitar craftsman do his thing.
